Q1. Please describe the project.

Greengate, plot HJ is a 50 story mixed use high-rise development based in Salford. This is a major residential development which also incorporates gym, swimming pool and amenity facilities.


Q2. How long did it take to design the project in H2X? How long would it have taken using traditional methods?

H2X saved a lot of time. Particularly at the early design stage when layouts aren’t finalised yet.

It is very quick to produce concept designs in H2X using the loading nodes, combined with the ease of inputting base plans and the speed of drawing the pipework / layouts.

It all combines to create a much quicker process. I would estimate over the length of this project, I have spent 50% less time designing than I would on our previous software.


Q3. Did H2X increase quality of design and if so, how?

The ability to output the design straight into Revit assisted clash detection and co-ordination.

The error warnings are very clear and assist in ensuring no human error sneaks into the design.


Q4. What do you like about using H2X in comparison to traditional methods?

It is very intuitive. Traditional software can be difficult to learn, even if you are computer literate, you need to know exactly how to drive that particular software. It is almost a process in itself.

Whereas H2X is very well designed, so using the software is common sense if you already have design experience. In my opinion, this is H2X's main strength.
